Welcome to Third Avenue Health Centre

Important information for patients registered to Third Avenue Doctors Surgery.

Update 22nd April 2020

We are no longer needing to close during the day. Our Surgery doors will be open from 9am until 6.30pm, with the phone lines on as normal from 8.00am.

We will continue to have telephone consultations rather than face to face appointments, with the exception of some essential nurse appointments for the time being.

We also suggest prescriptions are requested via our website or online service or by telephone if necessary.

Update 9th April 2020

For ordering repeat prescriptions  -- As of 1st May, you will not be able to request prescriptions via your regular pharmacy. However, once they are processed then can then be sent to a pharmacy of your choice.

You must make a request by one of three ways.

  • Drop your request in our secure prescription box in our foyer
  • Use our website via thirdavenuehealthcentre.co.uk
  • Join our online service, which you can book appointments on or request medication (this service is currently restricted to those already set up)

In the current circumstances we are happy to take requests for repeat prescriptions by telephone for the time being.

For Patients needing to isolate -- We are unable to provide letters  or medical certificates for periods of absence for work. If you need to isolate or need more information you can go on to the government website https://111.nhs.uk/isolation-note

Nurse appointments -- We are currently only seeing patients for specific appointments that cannot be put off. Unfortunately these appointments are only be offered during morning slots.

26th March 2020

We will be opening the Surgery at 9.00am for the foreseeable future.

We will also have to close each day between 11.30am-2.30pm to deal with the vast amount of prescriptions and paperwork to be actioned.

The phones will be manned during our normal opening hours of 8.00am-6.30pm.

We are sorry for any inconvenience.

Update 24th March 2020

We are continuing to operate as we have been doing for the last week or so.

Please be aware that we are having to open at 9.00am each morning and we will also be closing between 11.30am-2.30pm today to enable us to keep on top of the vast amount of prescriptions and paperwork that is necessary.

Update 23rd March 2020

We are continuing to work on a telephone consultation basis where possible as we have been doing for the last week. Please remember our emails (thirdavenuesurgery@nhs.net)  are checked constantly throughout the day if you need to cancel any appointments, request medication, or require anything further.

There are limited essential Nurse appointments available which can be booked in the normal way.

Please wait until 11am each day before ordering repeat prescriptions by telephone. We must advise that ALL prescriptions (excluding those not collected already) MUST be sent electronically to a pharmacy nominated by yourself.

Please bear in mind our telephone lines are extremely busy to the point we have been using personal mobiles to contact you, so you may receive a call from a withheld number. We urge you to answer as we may not be able to call back.

Whilst we are ensuring maximum sanitising throughout the day, we will also be closing our door at lunchtime (times will vary)  to enable us to have another deep clean through the Surgery.

Thank you for your understanding at this time.

If you have a pre-booked appointment with a Doctor on either Monday 16thMarch or Tuesday 17thMarch, if they are not of significant importance please cancel them preferably by email (thirdavenuesurgery@nhs.net) or by leaving a message on the answerphone (option available from 8am Monday morning). Please leave clear name and date of appointment please.

From Monday 16thMarch, if you need to see a Doctor for an urgent need, you will be given a telephone consultation slot in the first instance.

No future pre-bookable face to face appointments will be available at the moment.

We have made this decision in line with advice sought from NHS England but will continue to provide the best possible care to you all.

We will accept repeat prescriptions by phone for the moment, but please ensure you have the correct medication name and dosage.

Thank you
